Los Angeles, Calif. – Women's History Month has started off on the right track! On March 5, 2025, OWN and its dedicated health initiative, OWN Your Health, announced a pivotal partnership with the American Cancer Society's VOICES of Black Women campaign. This groundbreaking longitudinal study aims to explore cancer risks and outcomes among Black women, targeting a partnership with 100,000 women aged 25-55. The goal is to inform vital strategies for enhancing cancer prevention, treatment, survivorship, and overall health outcomes for this often-overlooked demographic.

Tina Perry, President of OWN, expressed the importance of this collaboration, stating, "We are honored to support VOICES of Black Women in the mission to understand cancer risks and outcomes for Black women, and to provide the essential resources and platform needed to achieve its goal. Partnering with the American Cancer Society allows us to harness the significant power of OWN's reach – across our linear, social, and digital footprint – to support the shared goals of OWN Your Health and the VOICES of Black Women campaign."

Dr. Wayne A.I. Frederick, interim chief executive officer of the American Cancer Society and the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), emphasized the urgent need for this initiative: "Despite significant strides in cancer research, Black women continue to have the highest death rate and the shortest survival of any racial or ethnic group in the U.S. for most cancers. The public's participation in our previous population studies has contributed to landmark discoveries. Partnering with Black women to listen and better understand their diverse experiences will give us the valuable data needed to develop tailored solutions."

This partnership is highly significant as it aligns with OWN Your Health's mission to enhance the health of Black women. This initiative encourages Black women to prioritize their health and well-being by offering essential resources and building a strong community. The campaign addresses health's physical, mental, and social dimensions, empowering participants to take proactive steps toward wellness. This is crucial in addressing healthcare disparities.

OWN has launched a dedicated web page, OWN.tv/Voices, offering essential information about the American Cancer Society's VOICES of Black Women campaign and how to participate in the VOICES study. This partnership will be bolstered by a multi-faceted campaign, including on-air, social media, and digital outreach, aimed at effective VOICES study recruitment.
