KR is the New Kid on the Block | SUPERFLY
THAheadline highlights Los Angeles native and multi-dimensional rising star Kaalan Rashad Walker, better known as KR, is making a name for himself in the music and entertainment industry. He made his acting debut in September at the Toronto International Film Festival starring opposite Halle Berry and Daniel Craig in “KINGS,” the film debuted in theaters on April 27th.
Next up, he can be seen in a starring role as ‘Juju’ in Sony’s highly anticipated film “SUPERFLY,” which hits theaters on June 13th. KR can also be seen guest-starring in BET’s “In Contempt,” this Summer. The show explores injustice in the American legal system.
In addition to his acting career, he is an accomplished dancer and music artist. Signed to Empire Records, KR has performed and toured with fellow hip-hop artists such as G Eazy, A$AP Ferg, School Boy Q, Waka Flocka and more. In 2016, KR released It Could Happen, which debuted at #13 on the iTunes Hip-Hop chart, and has millions of streams across the Spotify and Apple Music platforms. KR’s latest EP, The Intermission garnered much attention, especially his single Real Talk, check out the music video HERE. Billboard premiered his latest single, THAT’S MY WORD, off his upcoming album. His past singles such as READ MY MIND has over 4 million streams on Spotify and COMPLICATED has almost 3 million. He has a new album due later this year.
Our very own, Thai Lee was able to have a one on one call with KR where he humbly shared his journey to stardom. In the film, SUPERFLY, KR portrayed the arch-nemesis of Priest (Trevor Jackson.) As the new kid on the block in the world of acting, he did a phenomenal job playing such a hardcore role. At the young age of 22, KR is just getting started, and there is no doubt in our minds that he will not stop, even once he is at the top! This young man is bright, goal-oriented and talented. He is bound to go far.
