THAheadline Highlights - Tessa Thompson and Annihilation
This Friday, February 23rd, fans of actress Tessa Thompson can catch her playing Josie Radek in the sci-fi thriller ANNIHILATION, alongside Natalie Portman, Gina Rodriguez, and Jennifer Jason Leigh. We first set our eyes on Thompson when she graced our TV screens as Jackie Cook on season two of Veronica Mars in 2005. In 2006, she went on to make an appearance in Grey’s Anatomy and 2016 she began her starring role in the HBO sci-fi drama series Westworld.
In addition to her success on the small screen, she also started making a name for herself on the big screen with roles like For Colored Girls (2010) and Dear White People (2014), which put her on the track to stardom. Since then, she’s gone on to star in Ava DuVernay’s Martin Luther King, Jr. biopic Selma and Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok.
In Annihilation directed by Alex Garland, a group of soldiers enters an environmental disaster zone called Area X, and only one soldier (Oscar Isaac) comes back out alive, though he is grievously injured. In an attempt to save his life, his wife Lena (Natalie Portman), a biologist, volunteers for another expedition into the zone to figure out what happened to him. Tessa serves as the Surveyor in the group of women entering Area X.
